3.01 Indianapolis Hoosier Daddy's - WR Quinton Patton

In the real world: The Niners took Patton in Round 4. They have Michael Crabtree, recent trade acquisition Boldin, and Mario Manningham as well as tight end Vernon Davis. However, Manningham and Kyle Williams are coming off knee injuries, and Boldin is in the twilight of his career at age 32. So Patton, who is 6'0", 204 lb. with 4.52 speed, could have a clear path to a starting job next year. In two years at Louisiana Tech, this juco transfer had 2,594 receiving yards and 24 TDs. Then, from there, he held his own against defensive backs from the "big" schools at the Senior Bowl, and after being drafted, his eagerness to get right to work impressed the heck out of his coach, Jim Harbaugh.
In the TUFF world: The TUFF Bowl Champion Hoosier Daddy's finally join the party after sitting out the first two rounds in their entirety, and they kicked off Round 3 with the player that Cleveland arguably should have taken with their 2.15 pick. Scouts, Inc. didn't give Patton a grade of 86 for nothing. The only misgiving I had about the pick, from Indy's perspective, is that they need to get a young quarterback or two to prepare for life A.D. (After Drew). Their only other pick is the "Mr. Irrelevant" pick at the end of Round 4.

On a side note, to make room for Patton, Indianapolis cut WR Titus Young, their 2011 second-round pick, after a downward spiral that never seemed to end. I hope that the problems are a mental illness and not Young being a stupid, criminally inclined punk (like Lawrence Phillips was).
